New Delhi: The protesters against the quota policy are continuing to fight for their cause.

In a near-violent face off, pro and anti-quota protestors clashed just outside the gates of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences.

With the Government standing firm on the reservation commitment, tempers are running high.

So when a rally of students supporting the hike in reservation reached AIIMS, the confrontantion was imminent.

Says Convenor Justice Party, Udit Raj, "Whatever these doctors are doing is wrong and anti-social. The 27 per cent reservations for OBCs should definitely be implemented in IITs and IIMs and all other institutes of higher learning."

The students also had support from the faculty who observed a black day. Delhi Univerity students and even school students joined in with a signature campaign.

Hospital authorities meanwhile are acting tough. Termination notices have been served to all resident doctors abstaining from work, but so far the warning hasn't had the desired effect.

Says resident doctor AIIMS, Dr Kumar Harsh, "We have received letters of termination but we are undeterred by this."

Resident doctor Lady Harding Medical College, Dr Yogita echoes his sentiments saying, "We will continue with the strike despite the termination letters."

All through the day on Wednesday, Out Patient Departments set up outside hospitals were chock full of patients who have borne the brunt of the strike.

The anti-quota protests has now become a story of rising tempers. One hundred and twenty students on a hunger strike, six doctors in a serious condition, but how far will this sustain?
