Mumbai: Convicted along with film financier and diamond merchant Bharat Shah in 2003 for his alleged links with underworld, Bollywood producer Nazim Rizvi is out of jail and back to the sets.
It was in 2001 that Rizvi produced Chori Chori Chupke Chupke but was later convicted by Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court for links with the underworld.
Now, Rizvi is out on bail and is back to business. He is making his comeback with two new films, Hello Hum Lallan Bol Rahe Hain and Undertrial.
"I don't know how the industry is reacting to my comeback. Ninety per cent of the staff are from Chori Chori Chupke Chupke and they don't have any kind of problems with me," Rizvi said.
Starring in both the movies is actor Rajpal Yadav along with many other character artists. Though his last film Chori Chori Chupke Chupke had a big star cast this time the big names are clearly missing.
"Nazim now wants to focus completely on films. And the producers' association has given him a clean chit. He is walking freely and his name is on the posters of the film also. This itself states lot of things," actor Rajpal Yadav said.
Rizvi even plans to tell his side of the controversial story in his next film Undertrial.
But in an industry where even stars find it difficult to get over their on-screen image, will this film change the industry's perception of him?
