Producer-multiplex row still on

Mumbai: The deadlock between the producers and multiplex owners failed to make any kind of headway even after the two parties decided to meet to resolve differences.

The ongoing tussle between producers and multiplex owners remains unresolved, and their meeting on Tuesday evening at Mumbai's Yashraj Studios reached a dead end with neither of the parties ready to budge on the revenue sharing deal.

At the meeting the Multiplex owners were ready with presentation which was immediately turned down by the producers as it didn't meet the 50 per cent profit sharing demand of the producers. Left with no choice multiplex owners left the meeting leaving the issue unsolved.

The producers are now anchoring on single screen theatres to release their films.

"We have to get back to old school to release films in single screen theatres," said producer Mukesh Bhatt.

Multiplex owners offered 50 per cent ,40 per cent , 30 per cent profit share in the first three weeks but the producers insist on a 50 per cent profit share flat for all weeks.

Bollywood producers hence have taken national multiplexes off their list and are eyeing at independent multiplexes along with single screen theatres.

"Now I will put my entire team to talk to various theatre owners," said Mukesh Bhatt,

On the other hand the multiplex owners have refused to comment on the day's proceedings and will come up with a statement shortly. It's a lost case for both the parties involved .

Movie buffs will now not only have to chose between films but also theatres, as new movies may not release at a theatre near you.
