Reactions: Pro-Tata farmers protest | CII warns

Singur: Farmers who gave their land for the Tata Motors blocked the Durgapur Expressway running beside the plant in protest against the Tata's decision to wind up the Nano project from Singur.

One side of the expressway had been blocked by the protestors, who set ablaze tyres and two lorries and raised slogans against those opposed to the project, police said.

As movement of vehicle along the arterial road came to a halt, police force kept watch from nearby.

The blockade went on till late hours.

The protestors, comprising a section of farmers who had given their land, said that they had now lost both their land and their livelihood with the Nano to be shifted out of West Bengal and vowed to intensify their protest against "those responsible for present situation."
