Ahmedabad: Violent protests broke out in Ahmedabad, following the death of eight people from consumption of spurious liquor. Two of those affected in the hooch tragedy are still critical.
Police used teargas shells to control the mob. Protesters were demanding immediate post mortem of the dead.
The victims reportedly consumed alcohol in the Gita Mandir area of the city on Monday night.
Gujarat incidentally is a dry state and this particular incident took place right next to chief minister Narendra Modi's constituency.
