Pune: Amid the outrage over the recent gangrape in the national capital and calls for enhanced safety and security of women, in a shocking crime in Maharashtra, a minor was allegedly raped on the New Year's day in Hadapsar in Pune.
Following the incident, the Pune police registered a case against an unknown person with regard to the case. However, hours later, an 18-year-old youth was arrested by the police on the basis of CCTV footage of the locality.
The six-year-old girl was allegedly raped early on Tuesday morning. The victim was sent by the police for medical examination to the Sasson hospital in Pune.

The 18-year-old youth arrested by the police on the basis of CCTV footage confessed to the crime during interrogation.
"The accused, a student of class XII at a nearby college, was caught on the basis of the footage of CCTV camera, which was installed by a person outside his place for safety purpose," Deputy Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil told reporters.
"We could easily identify the accused with the help of the footage and during the interrogation, he confessed to the crime," Patil said.
