Pune: What is it that that children hate most apart from the daily homework?
The boring everyday school uniform.
However, the children at Sharad Pawar International School in Pune beg to differ, they just love their uniforms.
"They are perfectly stitched and I like the colour which includes maroon golden and green. I like the emblem too and I am very proud of it," a student, Heera Kanungo says.
“It makes me feel very comfortable because it suits my personality very well. It can be worn casually and formally,” another student, Anika Doshi says.
What is it actually that makes the children like their uniform?
It is because a professional fashion designer stitches their uniform.
The school principal, Elspeth Osboldstone explains why they hired a designer for the purpose.
"People meet the students surely when they come to school and the first impression is important. Apart from that we want our students to be comfortable in the uniform,” she says.
The fashion designer, Shaina NC, who has designed the uniform, on the other hand feels that schools should hire fashion designers to design the uniform.
"There are many designers venturing into children's gear. In that sense I don't feel it's negative to have a designer create a comfortable, smart looking uniform that you are going to live in and out of for about ten to twelve years of your life,” she says.
Students are now wearing fashion labels and school authorities say that it is not really about making a fashion statement but a way of getting the perfect stitch.
