Pune: A court in Pune has rejected the interim anticipatory bail application of Ajay Agarwal, his parents and his sister. A complaint was lodged against the four by Ajay's wife Priya for sexual and dowry harassment.
"A case of dowry and sexual harassment has been lodged against them,” says DCP, Pune Police, Satish Khandare.
For Priya, an NRI from Holland, who married Ajay last year in January, troubles began when her husband stopped talking to her apparently because she did not fulfil his family's monetary demands. She has also alleged her father-in-law took advantage of her situation.
"They started demanding money and said take your daughter back. That’s when I told my dad not to give in to their demands. The last demand he asked for was Rs 5 crore," says alleged dowry victim, Priya Agarwal.
"My father-in-law kept telling me that he is going to help us patch up. However, while saying that he started hugging me and then started touching me. I tried to get away, however, when it went too far, I left the house," adds Priya.
The police is now on the lookout for the Agarwal family. A hearing on their anticipatory bail will now take place on March 12.
