Pune: Nineteen-year-old Sumit Batra is all set to kick-start a new life. With just few days left for college to begin, the Sumit has already chosen his stallion, a red hot, Yamaha R6.
"You know when I enter college every one is looking at me. It's magical. I love to have it," says Sumit.
Flashy cars are now clichéd. The Dhoom craze is going strong among college students. Imported bikes that can strut their big muscle and catch everybody's attention at the spin of a wheel, are selling.
"There should be a 60 per cent rise in demand this year," says Brian of Dreambikes.
But the desire to own one of these doesn’t come cheap. Each one costs not less than Rs 10 lakh.
So whether it’s growing consumerism or purely an attempt to grab attention, the college goer in Pune is making sure that he remains in vogue.
