Jalandhar: A Burundi national and a student of Punjab's Lovely University was reportedly beaten and left for dead in Jalandhar in April this year.
The 23-year-old, Yannick Nihangaza is currently in coma.
The boy was allegedly pelted with stones and beaten up on April 22.
Two people have been arrested in the case.
His father has now written an emotional appeal to India asking that he be repatriated to Burundi.
The Ministry of External Affairs has said that it has received a letter from the boy's father. "We have taken note of it... We are in touch with the Burundi mission," it said, adding, "We are also in touch with the Punjab government."
