Kapurthala (Punjab): Avtar Singh Maan and Sital Singh Sitara are men with a mission. They are both visually challenged and have both been living in the UK for more than four decades now.
However, their heart is in India and so they founded the Guru Nanak Mission, an old-age ashram and a sangeet academy, in Kapurthala in Punjab.
Avtar Singh Maan says, "I did this only to thank God. I have no personal motive behind it. There no difference of caste, colour, creed, state and sex."
More NRIs from UK joined the mission and today they support more than 100 visually challenged men, women and children.
A visually challenged girl, Puja, says she joined the mission for she wants to be able to stand on her own feet and do a PhD.
Sitara and Mann visit the ashram every year for this is where they find peace.
Sitara says he remained abroad for 42 years and never came back to India, but because of the mission, he now wants to come back every year.
"I feel peaceful and satisfied here," says he.
