Click to play videoChandigarh: The BJP leader from Anjala, Anish Sharma (name changed), accused of raping his daughter for the past eight years has been admitted in a hospital following complaints of uneasiness and chest pain. Police have registered a case against him and are awaiting the medical examination report of his daughter.
DSP Ajnala, Ranbir Singh says, "The case was registered on Wednesday. The girl's medical examination report is yet to come and we will take the case forward once we have it."
The traumatised 20-year-old girl - who was living in fear of her father - is said to have read about the Mumbai incident where a person was arrested for raping his daughter on the advise of a tantrik (godman). It was only then that she revealed her sordid saga to her mother.
"My father betrayed me. No father can do this in the world to his own daughter. He has beaten me up, tried to pour kerosene and acid on me. He always used to threaten and blackmail me by saying that if you don't do what I say, I will kill your mother and brother," says the girl.
"I can't explain in words the torture that my daughter has gone through," says the distraught mother of the girl.
But Anish Sharma denies all allegations.
"My in-laws are behind this conspiracy and my own daughter is wrong. I just used to scold her and that is what they are using against me now," says he.
The Mumbai incident has had its first impact with another young woman revealing the incestuous act of her father. Even as people have revolted in shock, there are worries that such incidents could be more prevalent than many think.
