Jammu: Eid's just around the corner but villagers of Pakharpora in Jammu and Kashmir aren't in any mood to celebrate.
They are up in arms over the alleged custodial death of a teenager suspected to be a Hizbul Mujahideen cadre.
Nineteen-year-old Muhammad Maqbool Dar's family allege he was tortured by the Army and died in custody.
The Army suspected him of being a Hizbul Mujahideen operative.
Maqbool's mother Haneefa says, “They took him away from outside the house. We asked them to release Maqbool but they didn't."
The army has denied these accusations. They say Dar died due to an illness.
"They took him away. We want a judicial enquiry and the guilty should be punished,” Maqboo's father Mohammad Ramzan Dar says.
Government has taken a serious note of this incident and police too has registered a murder case against the Army but this is little solace for the family who lost their lone breadwinner at a time when they were bracing to celebrate Eid.
