Gurgaon: A stunned family mourns the death of their 19 year old son, Aman Kachroo, a first year student at the Dr Rajendra Prasad Medical College in Kangra was beaten up allegedly by three drunk seniors and an intern.

College authorities did not react until Aman's friends made a call to his relatives informing them of his death.

“My biggest regret is that I kept him there (in the hostel). Had I known that the condition was so grave I would have brought him back or would have killed the senior guys who were harassing him,” says Aman’s father, Rajendra Kachroo.

Aman's family claims he along with 12 others had earlier written to the college authorities complaining of severe ragging. This apparently provoked his seniors into beating him up mercilessness early on Sunday morning. He suffered a fatal cardiac attack that evening

Callousness on the part of the authorities, they should have at least checked for internal injuries,’ says Indira, Aman’s Aunt.

His family now demands that the college be shut down and the Principal, the warden of his hostel and the hostel manager be made co conspirators in the case.

The four students accused of ragging Aman have been sent to police remand.

"Now I am more at peace. I am not angry. I am sad about the whole thing, but I don't want my son's life to go waste. I want something to be done about it. I don't want any child to face this. We want something to be done about this. We all have to put our efforts together. The state, the media, the public, social structure to stop young innocents bright kids from being terrorised," Rajendra Kachroo added.
