Ragging death? Andhra student found dead

Warangal: In another suspected case of ragging, the body of a 23-year-old engineering student was found lying near railway tracks in Warangal district of Andhra Pradesh.

The victim, Dande Devender Kumar was a second year student of Vasavi Engineering college.

Police have registered a case of unnatural death.

Devender's family says he complained of ragging by seniors.

When his parents reported the matter to the college and threatened to file a police complaint, the college authorities allegedly begged them not to as it would spoil the careers of those involved.

“He told us he was ragged. We approached the head of department and reported the matter to him. But the HOD asked us not to approach the police as the careers of those who are involved in ragging will be destroyed,” says victim’s sister.
