MANGALORE: Retired High Court judge Justice M F Saldanha demanded the resignation of Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat and Udupi District Minister V S Acharya for permitting the rave party at St Mary’s Island in Udupi.
He told reporters here on Friday that the island is considered a sacred place for its spiritual influence and a pilgrimage centre, just as Udupi is regarded as lord Krishna’s place. Both should be sacked for damaging the sanctity of the place.
If such parties continue, Udupi will be transformed into Goa, he said adding that Goa gained notoriety for many illegal activities, including drug peddling and prostitution. The state government should handle the issue with the same seriousness as it did with the porn scandal.
