New Delhi: He is the new face of experimental cinema in Bollywood and is quite comfortable sporting the tag of a 'thinking actor'. And this time Rahul Bose is all set to woo children with his new film Chain Kulli Ki Main Kulli Ki. CNN-IBN correspondent Iram Mirza caught up with the actor who was in the capital to promote his new film.
Iram Mirza: Rahul you have finally taken off your rugby shoes and you are steering the Indian cricket team. You are playing the captain in Chain Kulli Ki Main Kulli Ki. Do you have any strategies in mind?
Rahul Bose: The interesting thing is we have made such mad children films. Till now, we had been talking down to children. Basically we make them seem silly and add unnecessary cuteness.
Well, here was a chance to actually inject some kind of contemporary hipness and some respect for children’s films. And I wanted to be part of that.
Iram Mirza:One of the magical features, rather a distinct feature of the film is that we will see Rahul dancing in the film. How was the experience?
Rahul Bose: (laughs) I was trying to avoid mentioning it. Yes, I did it for the film promo. The day I was on the sets they gave me four hours to learn six steps. I’m a kind of a person who needs four years to learn six steps. So I was sweating buckets and you can imagine how pathetic I was.
Iram Mirza:You have done a lot of films in lot of genre. Does that mean that typical Bollywood malasa flicks are below your preferences?
Rahul Bose: I would never like to do something trite and predictable. You know it’s just very boring. But I have said very clearly that I would love to do an action film. Because I think that the action genre is under exploited in this country.
Iram Mirza: There are predictable cutouts for an action hero when you talk about Bollywood. Do you feel you are tailor made for an action film?
Rahul Bose: I think I am not. But I think I can carry off action movies. I think after playing rugby for 25 years I will not be all that bad flying all over the places and of course I will not be worried about getting hurt.
Iram Mirza: Thank you so much for talking to us.
