Kolkata: Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi on Monday gave some anxious moments to the Special Protection Group (SPG) during his whirlwind tour of the metropolis when he crossed a barricade to shake hands with people.
Shortly after his 12-minute speech at a Youth Congress rally, Rahul stepped down from the dais and slipped through the barricade at the Shahid Minar maidan. He was oblivious of the SPG personnel trying to form a security around him.
The SPG personnel had a trying time when the Congress leader slowed his car near a park on the way to the airport as crowds had gathered on both sides of the road to see him.

The Congress scion stood on the running board of his vehicle and waved at them. Near the New Town, close to the airport, Rahul again asked his driver to slow down as another crowd had gathered there.
