Pajini, (Rajasthan): Rahul Gandhi is carrying on his India darshan. This time, he spent Gandhi Jayanti in a Dalit village in Rajasthan.
He spent the night at a farmer's house.
In the morning, the Gandhi scion played the son of the soil and got his hands dirty trying out a bit of farming and rolled up his sleeves to labour on the fields.
The visit was to gauge the prospects of the Congress in the assembly elections in Rajasthan due later this year, the sources claimed.
The Amethi MP interacted with residents of the area and talked to them about the progress of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Yojna (NREGY) to find out whether the project was being properly implemented besides other issues.
Gandhi's visit though unannounced was a scheduled one and authorities had made full security arrangements, the sources added.
He was accompanied by an Alwar MLA and two others.
He ended his visit with a meal with the villagers.
