Rahul Raj's father blasts police theory again

New Delhi: Father of Rahul Raj, the youth gunned down by Mumbai police for threatening the passengers of a local bus, says there are facts that question the grounds on which Rahul's killing was justified by the police.

He says Rahul was not a "dreaded terrorist" as claimed by the Mumbai police. “Rahul had a local made pistol with him, whereas Mumbai Police was equipped with latest arms and bullet proof jacket. Why they had to shoot him?” he asks.

Rahul Raj’s autopsy report, compiled by Mumbai's JJ hospital suggested that one of the bullets was fired at him from very close range throwing a huge question mark over the police version of the incident.

The report says there were dark marks around a bullet wound on Raj’s face, caused by gunpowder burns. This suggests the police was close enough to disarm Raj.

A four-member panel of forensic experts from the J J Hospital found there were five entry wounds in his body, all in the chest and head region. There were only four exit wounds and one bullet was recovered.

The report also says that the Mumbai police fired at least 12-13 rounds on Raj, who allegedly refused to surrender or throw away his gun.
