New Delhi: The CBI is digging deeper to uncover the link between Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal and the bribery scandal involving his nephew Vijay Singla. CBI sources on Tuesday said that Bansal's private secretary Rahul Bhandari will be interrogated by the agency.
The sources said that Singla and Bhandari have emerged as crucial links in the railway racket. The sources added that all business links of Bhandari and Singla will be probed.
The CBI has not ruled out the role of Singla and Bhandari in contracts and tenders. The agency will also seek all files from the Railway Ministry on recent transfers and postings.
However, minutes later, Bansal's office issued a clarification saying the minister's "personal staff was not involved in any wrongdoings".
"Bhandari is just a personal staff who has nothing to do with transfer postings," Rail Ministry sources said.
Sources further stated that so far, no direct link has been found between Bansal and his nephew Singla.
