Rain brings relief from sweltering heat

CNN-IBN

New Delhi: Relief from sweltering heat seems to be in sight as heavy showers lashed several parts of the country.

The wait for rains seems to have ended for Mumbai. The city has received 50 millimetres of rainfall in the last 24 hours.

The showers however have had some effect on the city's transport system.

Trains and flights are delayed, but only slightly .

Road traffic is slow but there are no major disruptions. The good news is that the city's water shortage may soon be a thing of the past.

Delhi too received rains on Tuesday. And despite the fact that they were pre-monsoon showers, no one is complaining.

The rains have brought much-needed relief from the rising temperatures.

The Met Department says the rain could last two more days. It had earlier predicted monsoons would hit Delhi on June 29.
