Rains spoil B'wood's act too

Mumbai: It’s one of the biggest levellers in Mumbai. Rain, which affects everyday life in the city also brings the multi-crore Mumbai film industry to a grinding halt. A continuous overnight downpour ensured that there was no lights, camera or action for some big banners on Tuesday.

Director Karan Johar hoped to wrap up a few pending scenes of his big budget Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna at the Yash Raj studios in Andheri.

This schedule with Abhishek Bachchan, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukherjee had to be cancelled owing to the flooding of the suburb. The film is scheduled to release on August 11.

The rains also dampened the shoot for Ravi Chopra's Babul. Scenes for this Amitabh Bachchan-Rani Mukherjee starrer were supposed to be shot at the Film City in Goregaon.

Also affected by the downpour is director Onir's Bas Ek Pal. The shooting schedule for this film has now been postponed for July 13 and 14.

The audio mixing of Mahesh Bhatt’s latest film The Killer scheduled for a release on July 21 also had to be cancelled owing to rains.

Apart from regular shoots, events in the city of showbiz also took a hit. The music release party of director Vishal Bharadhwaj's multi-starrer Omkara was scheduled to be held at the JW Mariott Hotel in Juhu Tuesday night.

This pre-release bash also stands cancelled in view of Mumbai's monsoon misery.
