THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: O Rajagopal, the BJP candidate for the Neyyatinkara bypoll, met Soosai Pakiam, Archbishop of the Latin Archdiocese of Thiruvananthapuram, at Bishop House here on Tuesday.
Rajagopal, who will file his nomination papers on Wednesday, along with Alphonse Kannanthanam, the BJP national executive member, held talks with the Archbishop for nearly halfan- hour.
The meeting assumes significance as the Latin Catholic Diocese has a sizeable following in the Neyyatinkara constituency.
Speaking to reporters, Rajapgopal said that the meeting was part of his visit to all the religious leaders before the bypoll.
Already, the Latin Catholic Diocese had announced that it would adopt the equidistant policy.
“It is for the electorates to decide whom they should vote.
We have asked them to vote according to the merit of the candidate and we have announced an equidistant stand for all parties,” said Soosai Pakiam.
