Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has called for an emergency meeting of his ministers on Tuesday. The meeting is in aid of a probable Cabinet reshuffle, sources said.
The urgency for the meet comes at a time when a recently sacked minister faces the threat of being arrested in connection with a sleaze CD while another minister has resigned on being accused of having illegitimate relationships with several women.
Suspended Congress party member and former Minister Mahipal Maderan is accused of having a hand in the kidnapping and possible murder of the dalit nurse Bhanwari Devi.
Bhanwari Devi has been missing since September 1.
Rajasthan minister of state for Environment and Forests Ramlal Jat resigned on November 13, after local media reports targeted him over a mysterious death of a woman.
The victim Paras Devi was the wife of the Bhilwara Dairy chairman. She died under mysterious circumstances in a hospital on the September 27.
A regional newspaper claimed the minister had tried to put pressure on the district administration to conduct her postmortem in the middle of the night.
Jat is the third minister in the Ashok Gehlot government to bow out of office this year. Minister of State for Rural Development and Waqf Amin Khan resigned for his comments on President Pratibha Patil in February.
