Jaipur: Political parties in Rajasthan seem to be encouraging new methods of sycophancy — a raga for state Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has been introduced along with a ‘friends of Vasundhara club’, a prayer book dedicated to her and posters across Jaipur.

Sitarist Krishna Mohan Bhatt, who composed the raga especially for Raje says, the raga is based on various aspects of the Chief Minister's personality.

"You see 50 pictures of her everywhere, everyday and its not the same mood, sometimes she looks very serious, sometimes she looks very compassionate, sometimes very powerful and her eyes are very expressive,” Bhatt said.

There isn't just a musical tribute to her but also a prayer book, a picture of her as a goddess, which she released herself and her posters across the Pink City and the lady doesn't seem to mind the attention at all.

"If our spirits are high which they are, if we have ideas about ourselves which we do, we've always fought for the people, now if that's our story then so it is," Raje said.

The Congress says, the BJP government is promoting sycophancy the feudal way in Rajasthan.

“It's a new era of rural kingdom again which has been generated by Chief Minister Raje in Rajasthan,” Congress, Spokesperson, Param Navdeep said.

However, the Congress is not far behind in this game of sycophancy. Congress worker Binu Sharma wants to build a temple for late prime minister Indira Gandhi and is also hoping to invite party chief Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi to inaugurate it.

Meanwhile, Sharma is looking for the right craftsman to carve an idol of Indira Gandhi and he wants to place that in a temple, Indira Dham, the foundation stone for which will be laid on July 6, near Jaipur.

But, the Congress is quick to defend the case. “I feel Indiraji was very popular with the common man especially the downtrodden. So people are motivated by this idea and they are creating a temple in her remembrance. It's a good idea,” Navdeep said.
