Rajasthan: The Rajasthan Police raided an unregistered NGO and rescued 27 mentally challenged people including six women on Saturday in Dholpur district of Rajasthan.
The patients were found trapped in three small rooms in inhumane conditions. The NGO's owners have been arrested. They have crminal records and were jailed in the past.
The raid took place after the police received several complaints that the NGO owners were involved in human trafficking, illegal organ trade and were torturing the patients.
Police said they couldn't show documentary proof to back their claims that they worked to rehabilitate the mentally challenged.
