Click to play videoNew Delhi: A villager of Doshe Khan ki Dhani in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan has alleged than an Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter-bomber dropped a bomb close to his dhani (village) on Friday morning.
The man Malik Dost Ali claims crops in five bighas of his land and a portion of his house were damaged in the 'bombing'.
He is now claiming damages from the IAF and has also filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Mohangarh Police Station in the district.
Jaisalmer's Additional Superintendent of Police Rishal Singh admitted that Khan has filed an FIR claiming that the IAF bombed his dhani.
"This incident happened on February 13 at 11:30 am (1130 hrs IST). The villagers have told us that the plane that dropped the bomb was coming from the Chandan Firing Range. The fields of a farmer named Malik Dost Ali have been affected and he has lodged a complaint. Further investigations will take place on the basis of inputs of other villagers. But there is no confirmation about the source of the plane. On the basis of eye witness accounts we think it is the IAF but they have denied such an incident," said Singh.
However, the IAF, which conducts exercises at the Chandan Firing Range nearby, has denied the incident.
In a statement, the IAF said that a explosion happened at a village near the Pokhran Range and claimed that no IAF plane was flying in the Chandan Firing Range area on the day of the alleged bombing.
The statement also says that all bombs carried on aircraft in recent flying have been fully accounted for.
However, villagers routinely scour Pokhran Range for brass shells of bombs which can be sold as scrap.
Saturday's explosion may have been caused by an unexploded bomb in a brass shell casing pilfered from the Pokhran Range by the villagers.
