The Bandikui resident, who was allegedly raped by former DIG Madhukar Tandon in 1997, is still waiting for justice.
“Just like the Haryana policeman was punished, I too want justice,” says the rape victim.
Though a case of rape and sexual exploitation was filed against Tandon in Dausa in 1997, not much was done in the case.
The senior IPS officer is absconding and evading arrest for the past 12 years. Moreover, in 2001, the victim's husband - an orderly who worked for the DIG was allegedly forced to quit.
“Senior police officers pressurised me to withdraw the case in exchange of money and when I refused I was even beaten up a few times,” says rape victim’s husband.
According to the sources, Tandon was on leave when the case was filed and was informed before an arrest warrant was issued giving him enough time to go into hiding.
“Tandon had political connections which went all the way to former prime minister Narasimha Rao,” alleges Dausa MP Kirori Lal Meena.
Tandon was suspended in 2002 - five years after the crime. A Dausa magisterial court had ordered for his all property, including his house in Noida, to be forfeited but the Noida administration has not executed the order.
When CNN-IBN visited Tandon's Noida plot, the inhabitants said they have bought the house in 2005.
Meanwhile, the rape victim and her husband had sought time to meet Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday. However, Gehlot has reportedly refused to meet them.
“We came to the CM but he has refused to meet us,” says the Dausa MP.
In a sign of protest, Kirori Lal Meena is sitting on a dharna at a railway track - along with the victim and her husband - near Gehlot’s house.
