Mumbai: Actor director Rajat Kapoor is ready with his next release,Via Darjeeling. The filmmaker talks about the film and his take on big budget films.
Directed by Arindam Nandy Via Darjeeling has multiple endings and is a psychological thriller that revolves around five friends.
The film gives mutliple interpretations of the tragic story of a couple in their honeymoon where the husband goes missing.
For Rajat working in the film was like one big party, "It's kind of an ensamble film which one enjoys very much as an actor, because there are other good actors and it's like a party and picnic," he says.
So where does Rajat fall into the whole scheme of things which largely looks like a Kay Kay Menon film.
"You see the poster of the film has a huge picture of Kay Kay and a small one of mine. My role in the film is very small, I play a journalist," he jokes.
Rajat has his hands full in terms of his acting career and the director in him is in no mood to take a break from filmmaking. He is all set to start working on his next project.
"I'm directing a film that starts in 10 days, we are in the pre-production stage and it's a love story," he says.
Though he's a successful filmmaker he's not quite ambitious about working for bigger banners and with bigger actors.
"I have no ambition to make a Rs 35 crore film with palaces and great costumes, it's not my kind, I make what I like," says Rajat.
It may be just about personal choices or a case of sour grapes but as long as he creates watchable cinema no one is complaining.
