Mumbai: After Mixed Doubles' actor filmmaker Rajat Kapoor is now donning the director's cap for a satire around the underworld titled Mithya.
After doing the rounds at film festivals, Rajat Kapoor's latest venture Mithya will finally see the light of the day in February. The excitement made Rajat so happy that he virtually revealed the entire storyline.
“Its a story about someone who wants to be an actor, who comes to Mumbai chasing his dreams and ends up becoming a reluctant poster in a chain of dramatic events," says Rajat Kapoor.
Rajat got noticed as a filmmaker post his national award winning 2003 release Raghu Romeo, however the fact is that the actor has been nursing filmmaking ambitions for quite a long time.
“It took me a long time before my script got translated into a film. I first narrated my script to my wife and then to Naseeruddin Shah and then it took me almost nine years," says Rajat Kapoor.
Mithya stars Ranvir Shorey and Neha Dhupia in the lead and surely they weren't looking for big money when signing the film.
"I am doing the film primarily because it is Rajat's film and secondly because of the role which I was offered I have never been offered such a brilliant role before," says Ranvir Shorey.
Neha Dhupis too seemed upbeat about the movie. "Firstly the script and then the journey of the character made me take up the project. It is Rajat's film and he is a good filmmaker," says Neha Dhupia.
Despite no big names in the cast, Rajat says he's hopeful that his film's fresh content will pull in audiences.
