New Delhi: Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rajbir Singh's father Mamchand Yadav has demanded a high-level inquiry into the killing of his son.
"My request is that this inquiry should be conducted on a very high scale. It should not be taken on a normal way or easy way. I feel he was a victim of some conspiracy. It could be rivalry from the police department also as he has got many out-of-turn promotions and some of the officers were jealous of him," Yadav said.
Rajbir Singh was shot dead by property dealer Vijay Bhardwaj on March 24 in Gurgaon at about 2030 hrs IST.
The ACP was responsible for over 50 encounters and had solved many high-profile cases.
He had joined the Delhi Police as a sub-inspector in 1982 and was first promoted to Inspector when he arrested Virender Jat in late 1994. Less than a year later, he accounted for Rajbir Ramala, a western UP gangster, in an encounter killing.
After the encounter, he even applied tilak on his forehead with the blood of the slain gangster, and it was perhaps a sign of things to come.
Four months later, Rajbir’s team killed gangster Ranpal Gujjar, leading to another out-of-turn promotion and had become an ACP.
