Mumbai: CNN-IBN swept the Indian Telly awards held in Mumbai on Thursday with five major awards.
But the good news doesn't end there. The channel’s editor-in-chief, Rajdeep Sardesai has been named Impact magazine's person of the year for 2006.
At a glittering ceremony held at the Taj Lands End hotel in Mumbai, the magazine said Sardesai was chosen for being the key part of a team that successfully entrenched CNN-IBN in the English news channel space.
“When you honour me today, you also honour the team at GBN. Their dedication and hardwork have made us what we are today," said Sardesai.
The list of nominees drawn up by Impact - a weekly magazine that focuses on the media - included some of the biggest names in the media industry, all icons in their own fields.
"We chose Sardesai for daring to dream,” said Impact’s editor-in-chief, Anurag Batra.
For Sardesai, it was a great end to a day that started with CNN-IBN's parent company GBN, opening with an impressive listing at the National Stock Exchange, earlier in the day.
