Rajdeep Sardesai now Padma Shri

It is a proud day for Network 18 as CNN-IBN's Editor-in-Chief Rajdeep Sardesai has been named as one of the recipients of the prestigious state honour Padma Shree.

The two other TV journalists who have won the award are NDTV's Barkha Dutt and Vinod Dua.

Forty-three-year-old Sardesai comes with 20 years of journalistic experience during which he has covered the biggest political stories in India and hosted the popular Television debate show 'The Big Fight'.

Prior to setting up his own channels, he was the Managing Editor of both NDTV 24X7 and NDTV India and was responsible for overseeing the news policy for both the channels.

He has also worked with The Times of India for over five years and has won numerous awards for excellence, including an Asian Television Award in 1998.

He was also decalred the Impact Person of the Year 2006 at the Indian Telly Awards and won the Newsmaker of the Year honour at the News Television Awards in 2007.

At the Ramnath Goenka Awards for Excellence in Journalism, Sardesai was adjudged the journalist of the year. Sardesai also been the recipient of 'News Anchor of the Year' award for three consecutive years.
