Guwahati: Five persons were killed and 15 others injured in a blast that ripped through a coach of Guwahati-Delhi Rajdhani Express in Assam on Thursday morning.
“The train stopped at a station for 40 minutes. I heard a blast about 20-25 minutes after that,” says a passenger Mohammed Azam.
“I am an army man therefore I can tell that at least 3-4 kg RDX was used in the bomb,” says another passenger Harbinder Singh.
Home Ministry suspects the Adivasi National Liberation Army (ANLA) to be behind the blast. It suspects the blast to be retaliation to the stripping and beating of an adivasi woman during the Guwahati adivasi protests last month.
Security agencies say that the little known organisation’s main agenda is to avenge the recent violence against the adivasis in Assam.
Meanwhile, the bomb blast has put Rajdhani’s security under scrutiny once again. Despite Rajdhani’s tight security measures, the fact that the bombers managed to plan a bomb inside the train's compartment has come as a bit of a shocker for the railways.
Chief PRO North Frontier Railways, TK Rabha, says, “We will talk about this to the state government. We are sure that the state government will take appropriate measures.”
