Mumbai: One hundred and eighty films down the line, awards may no longer be a big deal for veteran actor Rajesh Khanna who rose to dizzying heights of superstardom in the 70s.
For him, life in the film industry is still work in progress. But being honoured with the IIFA Lifetime Achievement Award is a something that has got Rajesh Khanna all excited.
“This is a special award for me and I am delighted and honoured not because it is a life time achievement award, but because it's IIFA’s tenth year and I happen to be the person chosen by dignitaries of film industry,” he says.
Veteran actor Rekha recently raised a bit of a storm after being honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award. She said the award implied that she had retired.
However, Rajesh Khanna differs.
“I heard veteran actress saying this. I had a hearty laugh when she said that when a person retires he or she gets lifetime achievement award. I disagree. Probably she doesn’t know the word (in) English, she's probably from south (India). A Lifetime Achievement Award is about what you have tried to achieve in your life,” he says.
Rekha not understanding English? Wonder what the Diva has to say to that.
