Chennai: You've seen the inimitable style, heard the witty one-liners and captured the magic of Rajini’s strong persona,
Now, the soon-to-be-released Sivaji will showcase the superstar’s funny side. Comedy has been one of Rajinikanth's biggest strengths and even the lead comedian in Sivaji - Vivek agrees with the same.
“You can enjoy superstar Rajnikanth in the first part of Sivaji as a full-fledged comedian,” he says.
Perhaps Rajinis most remembered full length comedy was Thillumullu, a remake of Amol Palekar’s Golmal.
His comic timing is compared with that of Amitabh Bacchhan's and often there's no need for another comedian to be cast in the same film as his.
"As far as Rajini is concerned, for the past 10 years, I don't think he needs any comedian at all. He has followed the Amitabh Bachchan pattern,” says Tamil cinema’s comedian Y G Mahendra.
But like every one else in the Tamil film world, comedians too try to outwit each other to be the superstar funny partner. In his last few movies, popular comedian Vadivel was the sidekick, but in Sivaji it's Vivek.
"I'm a professional comedian. He's a superstar,” says Vivek.
Rajini is unique in his style when he thrashes up the bad guys, but he's got his own style when he has to make the audience laugh. Perhaps, it's this exceptional mix that makes him tick and makes him what he is today - a superstar with a super funny side.
