Mumbai: His unique ability to merge himself with any character and the honesty with which he approaches his roles have made him one of the most popular names when it comes to Bollywood comedians.
Meet Rajpal Yadav – a comedian, a villain, a hero, an item boy and even leading man. The actor who brings a smile on everyone's face now wants to break the funny man mould.
From a mere three-minute performance in Shool to unforgettable cameos to playing the main lead in Main, Mere Patni Aur Who, it's been quite a journey for actor Rajpal Yadav.
His performances have earned him the reputation of being one of the most talented yet underrated actors in the industry.
Rajpal Yadav, the comic trigger of Bollywood, is a man afraid of heights but thanks to his new film Bhagam Bhag, he has cured his acrophobia.
Yadav says, “50 maale ki building se neeche dekhne ko man karta tha but is film ko karne ke baad woh chala gaya. (I used to feel a little scared if I had to take a lift to the 50th floor, but after this movie that scare has vanished)."
His many on-screen characters have made you laugh even this clinically villainous character from Jungle had a humorous side. So what is Rajpal Yadav's definition of comedy?
“Comedy blood circulate karne ka bahut achcha tareeqa hai. (Comedy is good for blood circulation), " Yadav adds.
Rajpal Yadav believes in what he says and as if an answer to critics who insist he's repeating himself too often, the actor will next be seen in Under-Trial inspired by the real life story of a man accused of raping his three daughters.
"Hamaare jiwan ki ajooba film hai. 25 se 50 saal ka kirdaar nibhaane ka mauka mila hai, (It's an amazing film for me. I had never thought that in one film I will get to play both a 25 and a 50 year old), " he adds.
Despite the occasional serious role, for the most part he says he looks for inspiration to Charlie Chaplin, which explains why most of his characters are drawn from real life.
