VIJAYAWADA: The row over the principal's post of the Siddartha Government Medical College does not seem to die down, as the Health, Medical and family welfare department has issued a GO (780) on May 19, 2012 asking the Director of Medical Education (DME) to continue Dr Rajya Lakshmi, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology as principal of the college. The GO was issued as per the orders of AP administrative tribunal that asked govt to continue Rajya Lakshmi as principal.
As per the GO, Dr S Babu Lal, who was appointed by the Director of Medical Education (DME), has to handover complete charge to Rajya Lakshmi immediately. It may be recalled here that Rajya Lakshmi had filed a petition with the APAT and had acquired a stay order on January 10 this year challenging the appointment of Dr S Babu Lal. She got stay orders on Jan 20 from the Tribunal, but she was not given charge. Finally the Health department ordered the director of medical education to take take action.
