Click to play videoChennai: Many women got into the drivers’ seat and there was no space for men, as Chennai hosted a car rally exclusively for women on Sunday.
Duchess Club and Madras Motor Racing Club organised the motor rally. They actually wanted the women to take part in the fun trip, to drive and make friends.
“I always had a fancy for adventure so I participated last year and this year also somehow, we formed a group and came,” a participant said.
"I normally end up watching TV on Sundays but this is a very good experience, doing something very different," another participant said.
It's not for the first time that women are driving, but events like these do not happen every Sunday.
"There is not much happening for the women in the city as far as motor sports go, so we concentrated on that," organiser, Duchess Club, Nina Reddy said.
"It always surprises to know what really motivates them to come here. But I guess it is the common passion that we all share," she added.
Winning might have been the prerogative of all the women, but taking part was the essence of the competition, that’s why they were all winners in their own rights.
