Mumbai: The month of Ramzan means fasting for the Muslim community. But one thing that everyone looks out for during Ramzan is the evening Iftari, that is the scrumptious meals eaten in the evening when people break their daylong fast.
And one of the most famous places in the country, which offers mouthwatering array of Ramzan delicacies, is Mohammed Ali road 'food-street' in Mumbai.
From the Naan Khatais to Malai Khaazes, Halwas, Aflatoon and Barfis — the simple yet rich sweets have that typical earthen flavour. But then those are just the day's choices
"There's much more to food other than sweets in the evening Iftaari. But what is the fun in eating alone? So my colleague Jancy Jacob will join me. Jency, what is on your mind right now?" asked George. "Just food what else?" said Jency.
Food is something that could be seen all around at the Muhammad Ali street. From food preparations to food shopping to simply relishing food, it seems like one big gala fest.
"These streets even smell so much of food. But with all the food I'm confused with the variety. What about you? I'll go by your choice Jency," said George.
And if one really wants to relish the food then forget about fork and spoons and use your good old hand suggests George. "For the after dinner sweet tooth the choices would be Maalphoa, Kheer or Phirni but that's a choice I'll leave to Jency," he said.
"I'm stuffed to the core. Let's end this right here," suggested Jency who perhaps had no place left to stuff.
"Wishing you all a very happy festival season," said Geroge. "Food season George," interrupted Jency. Okay, food season. Best wishes of Ramzan to all.
