Mumbai: Maharashtra's Revenue Minister Narayan Rane's outburst against his own government has put him at loggerheads with Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.
Narayan Rane suddenly fired a salvo at State Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh on Friday in New Delhi, giving rise to speculation about the stability of the Maharashtra Government.
Rane is believed to have the backing of state Congress President Prabha Rau.
"I am very unhappy. My government is not functioning. I have waited for two years, but it is impossible,” Rane said.
The timing of Rane's outbursts has stunned congressmen as it is believed that post Gujarat election results, Congress high command could consider change of leadership in Maharashtra and that Chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh reacted to Rane's statement diplomatically.
"Everyone has the right to go to the high command. I am not aware of Rane's problem. However, I believe in democracy," says Vilasrao Deshmukh.
Though talk about change in leadership is on in Maharashtra, Rane's sudden outburst only confirms that he may be losing the race.
Rane's candid comments to media only shows that even if Congress high command decides to remove Deshmukh, they may not choose Rane for the Chief Minister's post.
