Rani on London leg to promote '...Hadippa'

London: Actor Rani Mukherjee is on a whirlwind promotional trip for her latest film Dil Bole Hadippa, which brings her back to the big screen after forgettable flicks in the recent past.

Dil Bole Hadippa premiered at the Toronto international film festival on Sunday and will release this week.

While her co-star in Dil Bole Hadippa, Shahid Kapoor is busy promoting the film back home, Rani Mukherjee is doing the same abroad.

Pleased with the response after the world premiere of Dil Bole Hadippa at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday, the actress made a quick stopover in London to promote the film before its release this week.

In the film, Rani plays Veera, a girl who pretends to be a man so that she can play cricket. While the plot is similar to the 2006 American comedy, She’s The Man where actor Amanda Bynes pretends to be a boy to be part of an all boy's soccer team, Rani denies any similarities.

Rani categorically denied any inspiration or copying of the Hollywood flick, saying that the similarities in the plot are incidental and accidental.

The actress lost weight for a well-toned, athletic look and also took cricket coaching for the role. She says the Punjabi accent wasn’t tough and playing a man was simple too. Standing like a boy, keeping legs apart all the while was the tough part, admits Rani.

The film will feature reality-TV star Rakhi Sawant in an item song.
