South west Delhi saw another day-light robbery where masked assailants intercepted a cash van belonging to a bank, shot the security guard and made off with Rs 34 lakh in a waiting car.
The bank employees chased the robbers but gave up when the injured guard started bleeding heavily.
Just a few kilometers away in Bindapur, robbers struck at the residence of a CPWD engineer, brutally killing his 35-year-old wife, Garima Aggarwal and stuffing their four-year-old daughter inside a box bed before getting away with cash and jewellery worth Rs 50,000.
In east Delhi's Seema Puri area, a woman was dragged into a car, raped and then dumped at a remote location. The victim was returning home after meeting relatives when she was allegedly abducted. A medical examination has confirmed rape.
And while the Delhi Police was struggling with the wave of crime, their Noida counterparts shot dead three alleged gangsters in an encounter.
The encounter happened at the Greater Noida expressway. Police say they had intercepted the calls of the criminals who planned to kill "an important person". The alleged gangsters were wanted in more than two dozen cases of loot and murder.
The Noida Police is gung-ho over the encounter, while the Delhi Police is investigating the other cases.
