Click to play videoNew Delhi: A lady doctor was allegedly raped and brutally assaulted on the night of September 20 in a room in the Doctors hostel of ESI Hospital in Raja Garden.
The doctor was interning at the hospital that ended that very day.
“She is suffering from many damages and chances of her survival is very less,” says M S, Balaji Action Medical Institute, Dr Chandra.
The police have registered a case of attempt to rape and murder against the unknown assailants.
“We came to know about the case when the victim's relative took her to Action Balaji Hospital and the doctors told us that the case was very suspicious in nature as there were marks of injury,” says DCP (West), Delhi Police, Robin Hibu.
ESI Hospital authorities deny the involvement of any hospital staff in the incident. But her family is convinced of foul play.
“One could easily make out she's been raped but doctors tried to remove the marks on her body,” says the victim’s brother-law, Ashwani Jain.
This is not for the first time that a case of this gruesome nature has taken place in the hospitals of Delhi. But the fact that the family of the victim had to approach the media to get their side heard is a telling comment on the sensitivity of the Delhi Police in cases of this nature.
