A year ago, 27-year old Shruthi came to Apollo hospital in Chennai like any other expectant mother. But she was in for a surprise when she was told that she was going to have not one not two but four babies.
At the time of their birth all four babies put together weighed only 3.5 kilos but a year later they are hale and hearty. And their parents are all smiles.
Shruthi says, “It's worth taking the pain. You feel happy at the end of the day.”
Shruthi’s husband Vivekanandan says, “When we went for the first scan we were told there were three, we didn't scan after that.”
But of course four identical children at one delivery was not without its share of pains.
Gynecologist Dr Charumathi says, “Though the risk is there in all deliveries, the risk is 4 times here.”
So the kids celebrated with their share of the fairytale cake, on completing a year.
