Ratlam: More bones have been recovered from the Christian Medical Hospital in Ratlam. About 437 pieces of bones have been found in two days of digging. Two people have been arrested so far. The hospital continues to deny allegations of foeticide or abortions.
Digging continued at the compound of the Christian Medical College at Ratlam on Sunday. The toll went up from 391 bone pieces found on Saturday night, to 437 on Sunday.
An angry crowd had gathered outside the hospital, and called for immediate action.
Anticipating more trouble, the police promptly detained one hospital staff and started their investigations.
The police suspect the entire matter to be a case of female foeticide.
They have already arrested two people including the medical superintendent of the hospital and have sent the bones to the state forensic lab for a detailed report.
DIG of Ratlam Range Gaurav Kapoor said, “The samples have been sent to the Bhopal Medico-legal Institute to check the age and sex and whether these bones belong to humans or animals.”
The state health Minister has already formed a five member committee to look into the matter which will submit a report in the a week's time.
However, the Christian hospital authorities have not ruled out a conspiracy angle.
