New Delhi: The three days of terror brought to the fore another aspect of the maximum city. Though forced to stay indoors by the terror unfolding outside, concerned citizens still found a way to lend a helping hand through blogging.
A blog post, Mumbaihelp came up barely two hours after the first attacks started.
The hours that followed, users flooded social networking sites and blogs with their first person accounts, live reports and photos.
Praful at wordpress writes, 'We hear what we thought were loud firecrackers. I thought India won the 5th ODI against England, so people were celebrating the win. No no, I was wrong. There is something wrong around us. There is a terrorist attack in Mumbai.'
As events unfolded, the bloggers stayed signed in, giving minute by minute updates, posting emergency phone numbers and even casualty lists.
As casualties started pouring into hospitals, they directed people where to go to for blood donation. Mathatheist tells us 'Do share whatever details you have.. This can prove useful to someone.'
Some who could not locate their loved ones, for others who just wanted to know what was happening to their city - this was a lifeline, a constant stream of information, sympathy and support.
As it was for a Mumbaiite who lives and works in another city, trying to make sure everyone back home was okay.
