Reading: Jimmy Kebe scored twice on Saturday to give Reading a 2-1 win over Sunderland and make sure his team stayed out of the Premier League relegation zone. Kebe opened the scoring in the seventh minute and then netted the winner in the 85th after Craig Gardner had equalized with a penalty midway through the first half.
Reading took the lead with the first meaningful attack of the game when Jobi McAnuff reached the byline before pulling the ball across to an unmarked Kebe, who controlled well before firing past Simon Mignolet. Pavel Pogrebnyak then brought down John O'Shea in the area, and Gardner slotted his penalty past Adam Federici in the 24th.
But Kebe put Reading back in front by heading in a free kick at the back post to ensure that Reading opened up a two-point gap to their relegation rivals.
