Click to play videoNew Delhi: Former reality show contestant Toshi was attacked in Mumbai late on Sunday night.
Toshi – a singer, whose real name is Mohammed Ovez Sabri – was assaulted by four unknown men, who hit him with a hammer.
The grievously injured singer was rushed to the city’s Nanavati hospital.
Toshi – who hails from Rajasthan – was one of the final four contestants in the Amul Star Voice of India singing contest. His early and unexpected elimination from the musical reality talent hunt show had left both the judges and his supporters stumped.
After much furore and an appeal from Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Toshi was let in back into the show as a “wild card” entry.
He went on to the last round of the contest, finishing fourth.
